Is the Royal Queensland Show a holiday for the whole state?
No. Ekka Wednesday is Brisbane's day; every other council area gets its own show holiday on its own date, gazetted each year. The table lists the major centres, from the Gold Coast Show to Cairns.
Why is Queensland's King's Birthday in October?
Queensland moved it from June to the first Monday in October back in 2016 to spread the holidays out. The rest of the country mostly kept June.
